Today we are going to have a look at the Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked graphics card. This graphics card shares all the same features with the XFX 8800 GTX I reviewed when the 8800 series first launched. If you want more info on the features of the Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked graphics card check out the 8800 GTX review.

Again, we are just going to jump into the performance of the Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked graphics card today, for background information on the features of the 8800 series of graphics cards from NVIDIA check out the XFX 8800 GTX review from launch day.

The part number for the Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked graphics card we are looking at today is FV-N88SMCD2-ONC. The clock speeds of the card is 575 MHz on the core (500 MHz is stock) and 1800MHz on the memory (1600MHz is stock). There are 96 stream processors on the Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked graphics card that run at 1.2GHz, which is the stock speed.

The test machine I will be using for these benchmarks has the following specifications:

  • CPU- Intel QX6700
  • Mainboard- EVGA 680i
  • RAM- PNY XLR8 PC2-8500 2GB
  • Video Card- Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB OC
  • Video Drivers- 97.92
  • Display- Dell 24”
  • OS- Windows XP Pro SP2

To test the performance of the Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked graphics card I will be using 3DMark06, FEAR and Battlefield 2142. The first test up is 3DMark06 which I ran at default settings in the application and in the NVIDIA control panel. The results are as follows:

  • Total 3DMarks- 9922
  • SM2.0- 3979
  • HDR/SM3.0- 3968
  • CPU- 3960
  • Return to Proxycon- 32.611
  • Firefly Forest- 33.605
  • Canyon Flight- 35.979
  • Deep Freeze- 43.379
  • CPU1- 1.329
  • CPU2- 1.888

When I reviewed the BFG 8800 GTS 320 OC and the XFX 8800 GTS 320MB XXX I used a machine based on a much slower FX-62 CPU from AMD. The BFG card scored 8540 total 3DMarks on the FX-62 machine and the XFX card scored 9150 3DMarks on the FX-62 machine. I expect on the much faster QX6700 machine that the XFX 8800 GTS 320MB XXX would be faster than the Foxconn card I am testing today.

The next test up for the Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked graphics card was with FEAR. I used the FEAR in game test loop to get the numbers here at 1920 x 1200 screen resolution, 4x AA, 16x AF and all other game settings at max. The results were as follows:

  • Min- 12
  • Avg- 39
  • Max- 106

As you can see the Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked graphics card performed will with FEAR maxed out. You could tweak the settings a bit and get fantastic frame rates with great visuals, but he number you see here represent what this card can do with all the bells and whistles on in FEAR.

The final test of the gaming prowess for the Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked graphics card was with my favorite game, Battlefield 2142. In this game I use Fraps to capture frame rate data while playing a single player map called “Fall of Berlin”. Screen resolution for this test was 1600 x 1200, max detail settings with 4X AA. The resulting frame rates were as follows:

  • Min- 63
  • Avg- 78.528
  • Max- 92

All in all the Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked graphics card is simply a fantastic performing graphics card that can be had online from about $300. The Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked graphics card puts serious DirectX 10 gaming capabilities and fantastic DirectX 9 gaming prowess in the hands of gamers shopping in the upper mid range graphics card market.
