Guide Review - OCZ Trifecta 2GB Secure Digital Memory Card

The OCZ Trifecta is the follow up to the OCZ Secure Digital Dual memory card I reviewed here before. The Trifecta has greatly improved on the SD Dual by adding a microSD card to the mix. Adapters to allow the use of a microSD card in a SD card device are not new, but grafting the ability to use the microSD card in a PC via a USB port is a new trick.

The OCZ Trifecta allows you to have one card for all of your removable storage needs. You can move files from your PC direct to the Trifecta, then move the same files into your MP3 or DAP without having to dig out USB cables. The Trifecta is available in both 1GB and 2GB capacities. My test sample was the 2GB version and the 66x speed was plenty fast for continuous shots to be takes from my digital camera without lag.

I also tested the OCZ Trifecta with Sandra XI’s removable storage benchmark to see how the Trifecta performed for PC use. Sandra showed that the OCZ Trifecta had a combined index of 4396 operations per second in the Removable Storage benchmark. HD Tach showed that the Trifecta has a 1.9ms random access time and an average read speed of 10.3 MB/s. The OCZ Trifecta has speed and convenience, what more could you want?
