At a Glance
Pros
- Cool lighting
- Colors can be changed
- USB connection
- Keyboard is too wide--over 20 inches
- Keys thick, hard to press down
Cons
Features
- Adjustable Backlight with Color
The backlighting is done well, and even though its a little bright, it's an improvement over the Saitek Eclipse II, which lit fairly unevenly.
The keyboard comes with an adjustment control that doesn't really have much of an effect on the overall scheme, which is another difference from the Eclipse II, which had a dimmer switch that worked very well, but caused some of the uneven lighting.
But the greatest part is that you can change the backlight colors of the main keyboard. It can be blue, pink, purple, or red. That's one more color than the last model, which completes the trifecta for a full improvement over the Saitek Eclipse II illuminated keyboard.
Performance
The Saitek keyboard is a great keyboard, but does not really stand out above similar keyboards, including, except the backlight capabilities, the other versions of the Saitek Eclipse keyboards.
One note is that it is very wide, so those with a small amount of desktop space might find it overbearing. And the keys are slightly hard to press down, feeling a little clunky and stiff. On the bright side, the keyboard does connect with a USB cord, so it is easy to setup and never loses its charge.
