Description
Guide Review - Blue Microphones Snowball USB Mic ReviewBlue Microphones is a maker of some of the most serious mics on the planet and Blue has a mic just for PC users like us. The Blue Snowball is a completely USB powered mic and on top of that you need no drivers to use the mic. You simply plug the Blue Snowball into your USB port and Windows recognizes it as a recording device and you are set to work. You will need an application of some sort to record with such as Adobe Premier or Visual Communicator for video work. Mac users can also use the Blue Snowball just as easily with simply connecting the USB cable. OS compatibility is with Mac OSX and Windows XP Home and Pro. The Blue Snowball has three different settings which can be selected with a simply switch on the back of the mic. The first two positions are cardioid and the third is omnidirectional. Frequency response is 40-18000Hz in all settings. Blue also includes a short desktop tripod for the Snowball as well. I used the Blue Snowball extensively for video blogging and voice overs for videos. It simply performed flawlessly. The improvement over the standard clip on mic I normally use with the Snowball was shocking. I use the first setting and typically got no external sounds in my recordings, even in a room running three computers with lots of ambient noise. If you want a simple to use, low cost and effective mic for PC based recording you cant go wrong with the Blue Snowball. |
