One of the first things you notice about the Octane is how adjustable it is. You can not only adjust the height and recline of the chair, but the arms are height adjustable as well. In addition to being height adjustable, you can also vary the position of the arm pads forward and backwards as well as adjust their angle in and out from the chair. In all this is one of the most adjustable chairs I have used.

The base of the AK Octane Office Chair is great. It's made of polished aluminum looking material with black caps. The wheels are huge and roll easily over carpet, tile and other surfaces. If you own a pair of in-line skates, you will recognize the wheels right away. Large size wheels make the Octane very easy to move around in.

Formula 1 Inspired

Any racing fan will only need one glance at the Octane's design to recognize where its designers drew their inspiration. The Octane is designed to resemble the seat in a race car or exotic sports car. It looks fantastic with the two-tone blue-gray and black color scheme, contoured design and hem lines.

Like mom always said, beauty is more than skin deep. AK didn't make a good looking chair that is comfortable. They made a comfortable and functional chair, that happens to be good looking. One sit in the Octane and you know that functionality was goal one and that form followed that. The fabric is soft and made of a breathable mesh design that keeps you cool no matter how long you work or play. The seat is also well padded so your rear keeps feeling no matter how long you sit on it.

Availability & Pricing

The AK Octane is available exclusively from Best Buy in the US. That said, I practically live in Best Buy and I have never seen the Octane there. Trust me, look around or ask, the Octane is worth it, and at a price of $149.99 it's a veritable bargain.

Assembly

Like most things in life, some assembly is required for the Octane. The instructions are very easy to read and understand and explain the whole process of assembly very well. All the required tools, nuts and bolts are included to assemble the chair. From unboxing the Octane to sitting down on it for the first time took me all of 15 minutes.

Comfort & Adjustability

I can say without a doubt that the AK Octane is the most comfortable office or computer chair I have ever sat in. With my old computer chair, I would lose feeling in my bum after gaming for several hours straight and have to get up and walk around. With the AK Octane my gaming endeavors are only limited by the size of my bladder or the length of time my wife can go without needing me to do something. Prickly asleep legs and rear end no longer stop the frag fest.

The chair is also remarkably cool to sit in, even in hot environments. The fabric is very breathable and keeps you quite cool with extended use. Another of the great things about this chair is the adjustability. You can customize the height from the floor to your needs, adjust the arms for perfect comfort and lean back for those seemingly never-ending cut scenes in Fear or your game of choice.

Final Thoughts on the AK Octane Office Chair

The AK Octane is simply the best looking, most comfortable and downright coolest computer/office chair that I have ever used. Period. You owe it to yourself and your arse to search Best Buy and find yourself one of these things. It looks great sitting in front of your desk and who wants a plain old boring computer chair anyway.
