The Razer Mantis Mouse Pad is an excellent mouse pad for gamers and design professionals. The Razer Mantis Mouse Pads are also excellent all around mouse pads for all computer users. The one drawback to the Razer Mantis Mouse Pads are their size.
For some users the size of the Razer Mantis Mouse Pads will actually be a plus, as you never run out of mousing room when gaming or designing. Both versions of the Razer Mantis Mouse Pad have different screen printed images on the pads and different surface textures.
The Razer Mantis Mouse Pad speed surface has a very slick surface that puts off virtually no lint. The Razer Mantis Mouse Pad is also available with a control surface. The control surface has a much more coarse top that is not as fast for quick movements, but offers more feedback to the mouse user, allowing more precise control of your on screen position.
Both the speed and control versions of the Razer Mantis Mouse Pad measure in at a monstrous 444mm x 355mm size. That is almost 1.5 feet wide and a bit over 1 foot tall. Unless you work or game on a desk that has a large, flat surface you may want to shop elsewhere.
Those of you with a desk large enough to use the Razer Mantis Mouse Pad will be gaming or working with the best cloth mouse pad you can get. And should you still be working with an ancient ball mouse, you won't have to dig lint out of your mouse.

Gaming with the Razer Mantis Mouse Pad Speed surface gives a very smooth playing feel with good response. The Razer Mantis Mouse Pads worked great with everything from my Razer Copperhead to my Logitech G5. I even dug an old Belkin ball mouse out of the attic and the Razer Mantis Mouse Pad never faltered.
I did not really expect to notice a difference between the Razer Mantis Mouse Pad speed version or the control version when gaming, and boy was I wrong. The textured surface of the Razer Mantis Mouse Pad control surface gives a completely different feel to mousing.
The Razer Mantis Mouse Pad control surface felt slower than the speed version. The greater tactile feedback did make it easier to place the crosshairs or pointer exactly where I wanted it. Not that I had any issues with accuracy with the speed version of the Razer Mantis Mouse Pad.
All in all both versions of the Razer Mantis Mouse Pad are excellent. I preferred the speed version for the slick, almost floating feel it gave with my Copperhead mouse. Either version is a great weapon for gaming, so long as you have enough desk acreage to use the Razer Mantis Mouse Pad.
