Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse

The Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse is what I expect from a gaming mouse, speed, looks and it works for daily computer use. With a total of seven programmable buttons, the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse gives you the flexibility you need to move important functions to the mouse so they are literally at your fingertips. As good as I think the Logitech G5 and the Logitech G7 gaming mice are, the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse offers more accuracy and sensitivity than the Logitech products can muster.

Features of the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse

The Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse has a 2000 DPI laser engine and up to 1000 Hz Ultrapolling. The other serious gaming mice like the G5 and G7 from Logitech have a fixed 500 Hz polling rate.

The Razer drivers for the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse allow you to set different polling rates including 125 Hz, 500 Hz and 1000 Hz. When set at 1000 Hz polling the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse has a 1 ms response time as compared to 8 ms response time at 125 Hz.

The faster the response time from the mouse, the less lag and more accuracy yet get during your game. To bolster the response and accuracy even further, the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse also has Always-on mode that keeps the laser engine sensor from turning off so the Copperhead is always ready for sudden movements.

Like the Logitech G5 and G7 gaming mice, the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse also features on the fly sensitivity adjustment. The Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse has 400 DPI, 800 DPI, 1600 DPI and 2000 DPI modes. The higher the DPI resolution the more sensitive the mouse is to movements and the faster the response, which can make the difference between winning and loosing your game.

The Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse has very high speed motion detection of 45ips and processes over 7080 frames per second. The Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse can also withstand up to 20g of force. Astronauts only feel around 3g during the launch of the space shuttle.

The Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse also features a 16 bit data path allowing it to send more data to your system at once for faster response. Another cool feature is that the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse is a full speed USB device at 12 Mbps.

Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse in Use

The Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse when it is set on 2000 DPI and 1000 Hz polling is the most sensitive and fastest responding mouse I have used. The Copperhead was so sensitive that there was a bit of a learning curve to get the hang of the increased sensitivity. In normal computer use, it was almost too sensitive. Thankfully, the sensitivity is very easy to change thanks to default buttons on the right side of the mouse that allow you to change the sensitivity between the different available settings.

The shape of the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse feels very good in the hand and is one of the few true gaming mice that allows lefty's to play as well.

The Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse looks really cool with the glowing non-slip side rails, the glowing scroll button and the Razer logo that pulsates. The Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse is available in blue, red and green colors and the lights are not able to be turned off.

The only real issue I had with the use of the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse was the location of the buttons on each side of the mouse. For my hands they were a bit of a stretch to reach because they are under the glowing side grips.

The buttons on the right side of the mouse were especially difficult for me to reach and required me to reposition my hand to use them. However, other users of the Copperhead may find the button placement to be perfect, it really depends on the size of your hands.

All seven buttons of the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse are programmable via the included software so you can map them to any key on the keyboard for use in games that won't recognize the additional keys by default.

I also liked that the design of the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse allows me to control it more with my fingers than with my wrist. Being able to control the mouse with my fingers not only takes strain from the wrist, but gives additional control as well.

The feet on the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse, while not as large as those on the Logitech G5 and G7, work very well and the mouse glides with very little friction or noise, even when under hard use.

Overall, the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse is my current favorite gaming mouse, beating out the Logitech G series products. If your a lefty looking for a purpose built gaming mouse, the Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse in one of the few games in town.
