If you are a lefty and have your heart set on a Logitech gaming mouse, the G3 is your only bet currently. It is a nice mouse with an ambidextrous design that is comfortable in both hands. The price is also set lower in the range for Logitech gaming products making it a good option for gamers on a budget.

Features of the Logitech G3 Laser Gaming Mouse

The G3 has all the features you would expect on a Logitech gaming mouse; adjustable sensitivity on the fly, 2000 dpi laser engine, low friction gaming feet and full speed USB connectivity. It also has two buttons on the sides of the mouse that are mapped to the web browser forward and back function for normal use and can be mapped to in game controls via the games control panel or the Logitech SetPoint software. You can change between two sensitivity levels of 800 dpi and 1600 dpi without even installing the drivers.

Logitech gave the mouse a 3-year limited warranty as well. Image processing for the Logitech G3 Laser Gaming Mouse is 6.3 megapixels per second and the max acceleration is 20G. Sleep mode is disabled on the mouse so you never catch the mouse asleep. Logitech sized the G3 to allow movement via fingertips rather than the wrist for more precise control.

Logitech G3 Laser Gaming Mouse in Use

Gaming with the G3 was good, though I found issue in the placement of the mouse buttons on the sides of the G3. I tend to cup a mouse rather than control it with my fingers. While gaming I kept accidentally pushing the side mounted buttons causing unwanted actions in game. I also had the same problem while using the mouse to surf the web. I found myself moving away from pages that I wanted to be on because the side buttons are mapped to the browser forward and back functions by default.

This was especially annoying when the page I was on was for inputting reviews or filling out forms because I had to start over on a couple occasions after loosing the data to an unwanted page change. Other users might not have these problems because of different mouse use styles. However, if you are like me and tend to cup the mouse with your entire hand rather than just using your fingers, be warned.

Other than the issue with the side button placement, the Logitech G3 Laser Gaming Mouse was excellent and on par with some of the better gaming mice around, such as the Razer Krait.

The SetPoint software is easy to use for mapping functions to the G3 for normal use or for in game use. The large mouse feet give the G3 a nice low friction glide on most mousing surfaces as well. Overall, the Logitech G3 is a good gaming mouse, that is all the better for left handed Logitech fans. Just beware the button placement and you will love the mouse.
