Guide Review - SafeType Ergonomic Keyboard
Features of the SafeType Ergonomic Keyboard
The SafeType Ergonomic Keyboard is the most interesting ergonomic keyboard I have seen. Cornell University conducted testing with the SafeType Ergonomic Keyboard and found that it greatly reduces repetitive motion injury. In short, the SafeType Ergonomic Keyboard is actually proven ergonomically by an independent research staff.
The vertical design places the standard QWERTY keyboard layout, well vertically. The SafeType Ergonomic Keyboard uses rear view mirrors (seriously) to allow the user to see the keys they are using. The number keys are printed backwards so when seen in the mirrors they look correct. Curiously, the letter keys are not printed in the same method making them difficult to read via the mirrors. In the center of the vertical letter and number keys, the SafeType Ergonomic Keyboard has arrow keys, multi media controls, and the home/insert keys as well as a full size number pad.
SafeType Ergonomic Keyboard in Use
The SafeType Ergonomic Keyboard will certainly not be for everyone. After years of using flat keyboards, the change to the SafeType Ergonomic Keyboard's vertical design takes some getting used to. If you decide to give the SafeType Ergonomic Keyboard a try, expect to see a drop in your typing productivity and proficiency until you get used to the layout. It does not take much use of the SafeType Ergonomic Keyboard to tell that it is a more comfortable typing position, if you can get used to it.
