Guide Review - Saitek X52 Pro Flight Control System Review

Saitek has followed up on their already good X52 Flight Control with the Saitek X52 Pro Flight Control System. The two systems share quite a bit in common with each other, but the Saitek X52 Pro Flight Control System takes the X52 to the next level. The biggest addition is the MFD that can display information directly from your game, such as radio stack info in Flight Simulator X.

The illumination color can be changed from red, amber or green colors and the throttle illumination varies depending on throttle position. The joystick uses a precision centering mechanism and a two stage metal trigger allowing you to activate two weapons from one trigger. Four additional fire buttons including a missile launcher with a built-in safety cover are on the top of the joystick. Other controls on the joystick include a pinkie switch that activate a shift function to double the programming options on the controller, two eight-way hat switched, 3D rudder twist, three-position rotary selectors, three spring loaded toggle switches that activate two functions per switch and the joystick handle is adjustable through five different settings.

On the throttle you get two fire buttons, a scroll wheel with built-in button, mouse controller with hat switch, two rotary controls, one eight-way hat switch and a clutch button that activates safe mode. The throttle is tension adjustable, has detents for afterburner, and idle.

In use, the Saitek X52 Pro Flight Control System is fantastic. The joystick centers with just the right amount of force and the adjustability make for great comfort on long flights. There are plenty of buttons to map important controls to so you don’t have to remove your hands from the flight controls. Overall, the Saitek X52 Pro Flight Control System is simply top notch and highly recommended.
