Not all peripherals for gaming are created equal, and even the type of games you play can make a difference in the best peripheral for the job. There are several things you should know Before You Buy Gaming Peripherals. KeyboardsPerhaps the most overlooked gaming peripheral is the keyboard. When your ready to elevate your game and go beyond using the WASD keys for control of your game, replacing your keyboard should be high on your list. The Zboard is my personal favorite with its interchangeable keysets. The different keysets give you custom options that really elevate your game. Look for a keyboard that will allow you to do everyday computer task as well as allow you to get your game on when the time comes. Gaming MicePerhaps the most difficult gaming peripheral to choose is the best mouse. The newer wireless mice from Logitech such as the wireless MX laser are great for gaming and have multiple keys that can be used in many games. There are also purpose built gaming mice available such as the RTR-720 from Good Work Systems. The RTR-720 is a 5 button gaming mouse that feels like it floats on air and is ultra sensitive. Look for a mouse that feels comfortable in your hands and if wireless has no lag. Game PadsThere are a many of gamepads available for computers and the choice really comes down to your personal taste. Gamers reared on console systems can choose controllers very similar in feel to the controllers from PS2 and Xbox systems. Old school gamers can also find controllers just like the ones from the early days of gaming on the original Nintendo or in the arcades. Look for game pads that feel good in your hands and have enough buttons to allow you to play your favorite games. Mouse PadsThere are many purpose built gaming mouse pads, my favorite is called the Killenflor Gaming Mouse Pad. The Killenflor has a super slick surface that makes tracking vastly improved over typical plastic or felt type mouse pads. Good mouse pads can greatly increase the accuracy of your mouse during game sessions. Look for a mouse pad that is large enough for your needs and has a slick surface, but will reflect enough light for optical or laser mice to operate. |
