Guide Review - LapLogic Aerogel Extreme LapDesk
The LapLogic Aerogel Extreme LapDesk is available in two different sizes. The G800 Aerogel Extreme is sized to fit most notebooks up to 17-inches in size. If you want a space for your notebook and some extra room to use your mouse the W800 Aerogel Extreme- Wide is perfect. With the exception of the mousing area on the wide version both mats are identical.
Both of the LapLogic Aerogel Extreme LapDesks have non-slip coatings on the bottom and top. The coating on the bottom keeps the desk and your computer from slipping off your lap. The coating on the top keeps the notebook from slipping off the desk. The top side also has three ridges that elevate the notebook off the surface of the LapLogic Aerogel Extreme LapDesk to allow for air circulation, keeping your notebook cooler.
LapLogic claims that the LapLogic Aerogel Extreme LapDesk blocks 99% of the heat from your notebook from getting through to your legs. In my testing I used several different notebooks on the LapLogic Aerogel Extreme LapDesk. The only heat I felt when using the notebooks on my lap was the heat from my skin against the LapDesk. I even used a 17-inch gaming notebook with lots of heat output and could comfortably use the system in my lap as long as I wanted too.
The only drawback to the LapLogic Aerogel Extreme LapDesks is that they are ridged and are too large to fit into most laptop bags or backpacks. This means that if you want to take a LapLogic Aerogel Extreme LapDesk on the go you will have one more thing to carry in your hands. I would like to see a folding version that is easier to carry around. Overall the LapLogic Aerogel Extreme LapDesks are fantastic and highly recommended.
