Every gamer needs a good set of headphones. I have tried lots of headphones over the years from surround sound sets to standard stereo headsets. The Sennheiser PC 150 Gaming Headphones are one of the best sets of headphones I have used. Gamers looking for good sound quality along with a mic for VOIP in game should put the Sennheiser PC 150's on their short list.

Features of the Sennheiser PC 150 Gaming Headphones

Sennheiser has added the expected features to their PC 150 headphones, including great sound. The headband is easily adjustable to fit different size craniums. The built in noise-canceling microphone pivots up and out of the way so it doesn't get in your way when not needed. Controls for the headset are in-line and within easy reach without having to search. The controls feature volume adjustment and mute. A single sided cable is also used so there is no cord going around your neck. The well padded ear cups have a soft and breathable velour covering.

Sennheiser PC 150 Gaming Headphones in Use

The PC 150 was my first experience with Sennheiser, and I was impressed. The weak point for many headsets when it comes to gaming is poor bass response. Sennheiser gave the PC 150 bass in droves. The only set of headphones that comes close is the Turtle Beach Ear Force HPA surround sound headphones. Not only was bass response excellent from the PC 150's but the highs and mids were powerful as well.

The headphones did a great job of recreating all sound levels at once, like when you have a game scene where you are firing a weapon (deep bass sounds) at the same time a NPC is yelling (mid range sounds) and glass is breaking (high pitch sounds). The controls are easy to find in dark environments and work well for volume control and mute functions. VOIP is clear and has minimal background noise thanks to the noise-canceling mic.

One of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to headphones is poorly padded ear cups. Sennheiser put just the right amount of padding on the PC 150's and then went a step further and gave them a breathable velour cover that doesn't get hot and sticky during extended use. The large ear cups and padding also do a great job of blocking out external sounds to allow you to focus on your game or conversation. Overall, the PC 150's from Sennheiser are one of the best standard headsets you can get for PC gaming.
