Cyber Sport Introduces the Orbita Mouse

Monday December 8, 2008
Orbita Mouse

If you're tired of using that traditional two-button mouse with the oh-so-boring left-to-right and top-to-bottom cursor motion, Cyber Sport has just the mouse for you.

The Orbita mouse is shaped like a Google-inspired hockey puck -- circular and pure white. It slides around on a laser track like a normal mouse to move your cursor, but on top of it all, it also invites you to turn it back and forth like a steering wheel, replacing the traditional scroll-button functionality you might be accustomed to from a mouse. Use this turning motion to scroll up and down a page or document, as well as to give a more realistic feel to applications which traditionally require turning a knob, such as video editing and audio mixing. Indie movie editors, stop drooling!

There is also a little less obviously useful innovation when it comes to actually clicking the mouse. It has a button on top, but it actually wants you to press down to "left-click" and squeeze the puck to "right click." I guess once you get used to it, anything works, but I'm not sure why having a couple of buttons would be such a bad thing. Either way, it's a unique and stylish mouse, with some really practical applications.

Finally something better than the traditional jog wheel. And being all round useful helps too. It’s on my Christmas list.
